Far Reach Co. started the way a lot of campaigns do as just a group of friends wanting to play together, even though we were far apart. Some of us were in the California, some in Florida, and for a while I was even playing abroad in Italy. The only way to keep our game alive was online. We used the popular platforms out there, but it never hit. We wanted something that let us focus on the story instead of the platform. Something less "bloated" frankly.
So we started by crafting some world-building tools for our group. Then came custom character sheets for D&D 5E which felt more familiar to playing on paper. From there, a Virtual Tabletop began to take shape quickly, a canvas for our imagination to be unleashed and uncluttered by extra features. We want ever so much for game masters and players to stay immersed in their adventure.
We’re not a big studio. We’re just a handful of musicians, artists, developers, and teachers who came together through the age old tradition of storytelling. What holds us together isn’t business but rather the true mark of healthy community, friendship! And the motivation to keep that alive whether across the table or across the ocean.
Now we’re working on Aethrend, our own campaign setting, born from years of homebrew adventures and our streamed sessions. It carries the same spirit as everything we make: creativity, collaboration, silliness, and the joy of togetherness.
To give players and game masters tools that are clear, responsive, and easy to use - standing respectfully alongside today’s VTT platforms while carving our own path forward into the mist.
